Madagascar's lemur populations are declining at an alarming rate due to careless corporate and government-sanctioned deforestation. At present, lack of support for understanding and visualizing this information makes it easier for policy-makers to continue to allow clear-cutting in vital habitats. The goal of this application is to visualize lemur species dependence on remaining forests to support preservation.

The project was done in collaboration with Dr. Shawn Lehman and Danny Heap at the University of Toronto. Built with Polymaps for Safari, the visualization relates species habitat with conservation threat level to highlight the importance of Madagascar's remaining forests. Try it here.
